TED talks: obliquity: how complex goals are best achieved indirectly – John Kay
If you want to go in one direction, the best route may involve going in another. So says John Kay, professor of economics at London School of Economics, in this week’s featured TED talk.
Filmed at TEDxWarwick, an independently-organised TED event from March 2012, Kay looks at some of the themes in his latest book, Obliquity, in which he suggests the most profitable businesses are not always the ones totally focused on profit.
Kay, a Financial Times columnist who led a government-commissioned review into financial long-termism in 2012, also starred in the Financial Innovation Lab’s recent Transforming Finance documentary. He is one of the leading thinkers on sustainable business and long-term investment.
