Platform to compare corporate energy investment up for award
A platform that enables corporate energy users to assess their energy investments and compare their programmes to others in the market has made the shortlist in the sustainability category at the Talk Talk Digital Heroes Awards.
Blue & Green Tomorrow is currently running a crowdfunder to ensure its survival. Please pledge.
The Energy Investment Curve called on companies to share some energy investment and received an encouraging response. It has since been developing the platform and a fully interactive site is due to launch in early 2015. It is hoped that the initiative will take a lot of the innovation risk out of energy strategies.
A beta version of the Curve launched in June, with 160 energy investments made by 46 organisations that are primarily based in the UK. Between them they represent over £300 million in investment capital.
The Curve is a peer-to-peer platform for corporate energy users – in exchange for investments, users get to learn from the markets. The energy investments can be sorted by various categories and viewed through three lenses – investment paybacks, added benefits and manager ratings.
The platform enables users to find organisations that have made similar investments to the ones they are considering and use the information as an insight. It also gives them an opportunity to compare their energy investment programmes to others on the markets and learn about how to make the most of their investments.
If it wins, the Curve will receive a £5,000 prize that will go towards funding development costs. Two other projects have been shortlisted for the Sustainability Digital Hero category, Sol Cinema, which offers unique experiences for watching short digital videos, and Reusemypc.com, which works to collect unwanted computers for children that do not have access to one at home.
