Ethical retailer of the week: Wildlife World
Wildlife World is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wildlife habitats. It works to encourage conservation and allow species to thrive by providing them with essential food and shelter.
The Gloucestershire-based company produces quality nesting structures and feeders for birds, mammals, amphibians and insects, which contribute to the survival and prosperity of many species.
Products include hives for bees and bumblebees, habitats for butterflies, feeders for birds, bats, squirrels and hedgehogs and shelter for frogs and other animals. It also sells wildlife habitats for children to discover and a conservation range for consultants and developers.
The firm has won awards for new product development as well as environmental award and design awards. Its products play an important role in allowing British and European species to thrive.
In addition, Wildlife World states, “We believe that you should not try to help wildlife at the expense of wildlife – that is why we have a strong commitment to ensuring that we operate to the highest environmental standards that we can achieve.”
As part of its sustainability efforts, the company uses timber from sustainable sources certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), as well as recycled materials for packaging. It also often donates its products to wildlife charities, such as the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust, the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and the International Bee Research Association.
Wildlife World’s products are made in the UK and are tested on a 35-acre organic farm in Devon owned by the company.
