Call for articles: Sustainable Homes, January 2016

We’re publishing our third Guide to Sustainable Homes early in the New Year, and this is a call for articles for that guide. If you have something to say about sustainability and housing, this is your opportunity.

We are seeking 500-1,200-word articles that answer the question: “How do we make UK housing more sustainable?” By ‘sustainable’ we mean: available, affordable, convenient, energy efficient, healthy, practical and secure in structure and tenure.

Some facts from The House Builders Federation:

– In 2012/13 England had one of the lowest house building rates since 1923

– Affordability has plummeted and first time buyers are at record lows

– Close to a fifth of women and a third of men aged between 20 and 34 are still living at home

– Social Housing Waiting Lists have almost doubled in the last 10 years to 1.85 million households; around 5 million people are waiting for a home. 76,000 children live in temporary accommodation and 250,000 families in social housing are in over-crowded accommodation

Your submission could be an existing blog/article or, ideally, an original piece.  Please submit a proposal/abstract to GTSH16@blueandgreencommunications.com by 24th October.

The final contribution deadline is 17th December and the Guide will be published early in January. Should your article be included you will receive a byline and a free full A4-page advertisement to accompany your article.
