TED talks: The key to growth? Race with the machines – Erik Brynjolfsson
This time last week, we brought you Robert Gordon’s TED talk about the death of innovation. Giving an opposing viewpoint seven days later is Erik Brynjolfsson, who argues that big innovations lie ahead of us.
He says, “[Current economic] troubles are sometimes misdiagnosed as the end of innovation, but they are actually the growing pains of […] the new machine age.
“What can we do to create shared prosperity? The answer is not to try to slow down technology. Instead of racing against the machine, we need to learn to race with the machine.”
Innovation, Brynjolfsson claims, is far from dead.
